Newbie needs some Help!
« on: October 10, 2016, 01:51:25 PM »
This will be my first year with animation.  I thought I had everything figured out but now I'm starting to doubt myself.  Maybe I'm doing something too big to begin with!

Here is my proposed setup:

E682 Sandevices to run my (4) RGB leaping arches w/ LED strips, and (3) WS2811 lit wreaths

LOR CMB24 to run my (4) flood lights dumb RGBs

LOR CTB16PC to run all of my LED single color lights (roofline, gutters, and trees)

I have an E1.31 controller from Ray Wu

I am working off of Light-O-Rama S4 Software Suite (but also have Xlights)

I want to run all of this via FPP on my Raspberry Pi.

Any good tutorials/videos/instructions to actually get my music sequenced and then connected accurately so the lights will work?

Thank you for any advice!!

The tools within Xlights 4 far exceed LOR S4 so you are probably better off just going straight to XL4.
There's a few tutorials on using XL4 on the download page at http://xlights.org/ and there's a user manual there as well.
Make sure that you install Audacity and the Queen Mary plugin when you play with XL4 so that you can use the beat detection features for the music. With the beat detection and the auto sequencing you can do synched sequences quite quickly.

Thanks! I had started a little with XLights, but now I'll just go forward with that and stop with the LOR software.  Now I just need to figure out how to hook all of the hardware and everything else correctly.  I think the sequencing shouldn't be too bad since I've already done a little.

Hopefully you guys realize that you have resurected a year old post and that XL4 is one year outdated.  Try XL 2017.  LOL.

Haha. Thanks. The video I posted from Keith just came out, but XL4 went right past me!
