Differential Receiver Board & F4v2
« on: November 08, 2016, 09:28:39 AM »
On the F16 it's possible to drive a differential receiver board directly off one of the RS485 outputs. Is that capability to drive a receiver board off the RS485 output something that is coming to the F4 as well? Soon I hope...

F16v2 yes. Fv42 no.  Someone had asked that in another thread. I can't remember if it's the FPGA board. Or the fact the F4v2 only has one rs485 output

You will be able to add a differential expansion board, though:  http://falconchristmas.com/forum/index.php/topic,5279.msg55061.html#msg55061

Won't be ready soon, but is in development

I was planning on using the F4 to control 4 elements that are away from my main display on the other side of my driveway. As my plan is starting to materialize I discovered that I have two extra elements that I forgot about. Driving a differential receiver board off the RS485 of the F4 would have made life so easy. Time to figure out plan C now!

Email David. I know he's made some of the exp boards for the F4v2 not sure if he has any still available. FYI he is very busy might take a day or 2 for a reply.

I know it's more expensive, but see if somebody is selling a used 4 port controller... Falcon, Pixlite, Alphapix.  Put it across the driveway.
