Considering a Falcon
« on: December 23, 2016, 09:10:23 PM »
Right now i am running an E682 for my mega tree and the tree star is being run off a 27 channel DMX controller through an Acti Dongle connected to the PI. Next year i will also be including a 24x50 matrix from Holiday Sequences. I could move the E682 to the Matrix, use the Falcon for the Tree and the tree star. I play to buy at least 4  PI 3's as they already have wireless built into them.. I would like to connect one PI to the E682, one to the Falcon and one more to the props in the yard, this would help me avoid running a ton of Cat5 like i have this year. The 4th will replace my current PI as the master, current one is gonna go inside the house and act as a server. With using the Falcon as the controller for the Tree, i could hook up the 27 channel DMX controller to the Falcon, do i still need to run the acti dongle off the port, or does the port send out DMX data? Also, one of my Renard RGB strip controllers will be with in 10 feet of the tree, can i use the Renard protocol off another one of the ports, or do they all have to be either DMX or Renard? I am hoping to get a Bud enclosure that will fit both the Falcon and the 27 channel dmx controller and 3 power supplies. The more i read up on the Falcon mthe more i see it is far supior to the E682. My 682 will be perfect fore the Matrix, but i hate having 3 separate thins for my tree when i could reduce it to just 2

You will not need the dongle. The F16V2/3 will output DMX.

Can you chose different protocols for the 4 ports?

Yes. You can select DMX, Renard or Pixelnet.

1.  Can I output DMX off the receiver boards?

2.  Does the F16V3 come with connectors to mate with the ports? Same question for the Distribution brds
