I ordered two from ebay. We'll see who gets theirs first.

I have a friend who would really like something like this for his outdoor (but out of the weather) patio cover lighting.
He has white mini-lights and likes the look. I think he needs color. The Bluetooth control for his phone, if it works well, seals the deal.
A few power supplies and power injection should handle enough pixels for his whole patio.

Wearable clothing fans, if all they want is color and color patterns, would be happy.

I ordered 2 and it's kind of cool, I'm wondering when someone will figure out how to drive them from FPP with a Bluetooth dongle. I would think it is possible.

I emailed the App developer to see if he/she would share the protocol that they are using. I'd be curious to see if we can hack it and drive pixels attached to it via FPP.

I have looked at these. I want to use them for patio lights. Can you set these to be constant lights with alternating colors. Example: red, green, red, green, etc.

I installed their App on my Android phone (sort of works even though I don't have the controller, yet) and it does look like that is what it will do.
I hope so because Patio Lighting is the first project I have for it.

So finally got it connected up.  At first I couldn't figure out why nothing would work on my connection, wouldn't power up using the supplied power wires going in, had to make a connector with a barrel connection to get it going.

Once going just opened the app found the controller and then started playing.  It has an area to set the chip type/color order/and number of pixels (up to 600 at least thats where mine was at).  Set various colors from a color wheel, speed/brightness and it has 200+ modes to do various color chases and what not.

For the price its not bad and handy for static type setup (deck/my office :))

Twolly, can you set the colors to be steady or very slow changing for just a couple colors.  I want something I can change colors for holidays.  Without the device I can't get the app to do anything.

Yes you can set a single static color, using either rgbw or the color wheel.  Unfortunately you can't select multiple colors to do a "chase/movement with", but it has over 200+ built in variety of choices you can go through (I haven't been through them all)

Got my two "SP105E Magic Controllers" today. Got it running a 4m strip of 60/meter pixels. (5vdc)

Pretty nice, actually. You can't program it but it will display virtually any color you want from a color wheel.

It has 200 programmed chases. Many two color or three color chases. Speed is controllable in 7 steps. Brightness in 7 steps. It has a slider, making me think it is adjustable, but it only moves in those 7 steps. It will control a single strand of 2048 pixels. You should do lots of power injection at that length.

Programmed chases use color choices of Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, Cyan, Magenta and White.

If you were going to decorate a room or ceiling with pixels, this would be about as easy as it gets. The Android App worked immediately. While it is Bluetooth, it doesn't link through my phone's Bluetooth listing. When started, it scans for available SP105E devices and will list them. So, you can have more than one. It links through a MAC address even though they all are "named" the same.

For $13.65 each, free but slow shipping from China via Ebay, can't beat the price for what it does.
