WTB: F16 V1
« on: March 06, 2017, 02:20:12 PM »
With peoples' upcoming upgrades to F16-V3 and F16-V4 this year, I imagine that there are going to be a lot of unwanted F16-V1 controllers dropped off on the local orphanage's doorstep.

Just think of the childrencontrollers! I'm willing to adopt one as my own.  :)

What's the difference between an "ORIG" and v1.03?

I think the only real difference is that 1.03 uses pluggable connectors like the F16v2 and v3 where the earlier F16v1s used screw terminals that were soldered to the board.  Since I just put short pigtails on mine it really made no difference.  Functionally I never saw any difference.  I have sold off my 1.03s and still have a 1.01 that I used in last years show.  Worked great.

If that's the case, I'd be looking for a v1.03, as I'd like to be able to quickly and easily swap out any one of my controllers in case one fails. In fact, the one I'd like to buy WOULD be my spare.

The value goes up dramatically if it has David's signature in silver Sharpie underneath the PIC, but you might end up destroying the board trying to check for that.

If I remember correctly - its one of the 1st 5 or so made - it works, but does have a problem (misrouted trace) for one of the chips in active output mode.  Works fine in passive mode, and also it had the RJ45 right angle connectors instead of the straight up ones which makes it harder to get to the connector tab to release.

I have just always kept it for prosperity :)

I have one or two of them. I had to use criss crossed jumpers in those chip sockets to get pass thru output. David used the pinout of the surface mount chips instead of DIP. Works perfectly 3 full seasons.

I was wondering... What's the difference between 1.0, 1.01, and 1.02?
