FPP syncing selectively
« on: April 16, 2017, 10:31:24 PM »
I am new with FPP and just getting my feet wet. I was wondering about the sync option or some other methods of playing a sequence but triggered remotely. In my case this would be on the master (one and only at this point). I would like it to listen for an external trigger during certain time periods only. If it doesn't receive any it would just continue to do the playlist.  What feature, plugin, etc would be I be looking for?  The external trigger is flexible at this point.  It could be a FPP sync request or a twitter message or a ...?

Just point me at some resources please.

If you just want to run a non-audio sequence when you receive the trigger, you can do that with an effect sequence that is started by an event script.  You can trigger the event script via a GPIO input or by hitting a specific FPP URL.

To search for examples, you can search for some of the following:

gpio input
event script
trigger
effect sequence

With an effect sequence, you don't need to stop the running playlist, the effect sequence overrides the playing sequence.
