Pi 3 WiFi not working
« on: October 10, 2017, 04:47:58 PM »
I have a Pi 3 that I am trying to set up. I already have three Pis running in multi sync. I installed FPP and it showed up on my computer with no problem. I typed in my Wi-Fi credentials, restarted, and it will not connect. I verified the settings are correct at least 10 times by now. I had a screen up for one of the Pis that is already connected and running and my settings are identical except for the IP addresses, obviously.
Ive tried multiple USB drives. Ive tried different power supplies.
Before I go and order a new Pi, is there something Im missing?

eth0
IP 192.168.0.40
Subnet 255.255.255.0
Gateway

wlan0
IP 10.0.1.110
Subnet 255.255.255.0
Gateway 10.0.1.1

Thanks!

Hate to admit it, but I once spent hours only to find out I did not have the SSID correct.  The SSID and password must match exactly - capitalization counts, ask me how I know.  Sometimes I just need to type slower and look at the screen.  LOL

Do you broadcast your Routers SSID? If not, enable it.

Yes I broadcast SSID. I have 3 others that work fine. My ultimate goal is to use this setup in a Pi Zero.

Ok, so i can not connect either, i set my Wlan to static like so, my home network runs on 192.168.0.1. I was told to get two different subnets to talk to each other, i was to set the gateway on the PI and the modem like you see below. I still cant get the pi to connect.

There is an excellent pinned thread by ThreeSizes on Wifi setup have you looked at it?

Yeah, but it doesnt tell me how to get my Pi to communicate when it has a different subnet. For the fun of it, i changed the wlan ip to a 0 subnet, same as my home network, still can not get any wifi, my router does not even see it, i am wondering if the onboard wifi is working.

Pstube are you unplugging the Ethernet cable when you try to connect?  In my experience nothing should be plugged into the Ethernet port the first time wifi is connected. Is your router address 10.0.1.1?  If not change your gateway to the router address.

I did unplug. I feel like I tried EVERYTHING. If this was my 1st Pi, I would call it user error but with it being my 5th or more, I knew it had to be something else.
I went and found an old Pi2B with the Edimax WiFi dongle. Ran it through the paces and it works perfect. This leads me to believe that the WiFi has gone bad in my Pi3. I really don't know what else it could be.
