Differential expansion
« on: October 13, 2017, 07:07:56 PM »
I have two boards one is working fine the other wont even power up? Any ideas why this could be? Thought i may have power wire crossed but that wasnt the case thankfully the led wont light up on board?  Also may mention that the chip with the heatsink gets super hot!!

If you mean the differential receiver board, about the only thing to cause "no lights" is that the voltage regulator is bad.

The F4v2 Differential receiver board has more components (and I don't own one to look at)

It is the receiver board. Its the white v3. I will have to get the volt meter out and check it.

Are you applying 12V or less? If so, even connecting backwards briefly should not have harmed the regulator. 24vdc might, though.  An AC source might also. Verify that your power supply is DC.

If the regulator is getting hot it is blown. It will need to be replaced. Send it to me I can fix it. If power was connected up wrong I will have to replace all chips most likely. I may start putting reverse protection in the future.

Apparently these are good chips. Mcm wanted 20$ extra for shipping from UK for a 1.25 chip. Ali express was 2.25 per plus 2.50 shipping but no clue on dates of delivery. Ill just stick with tried and true PixelController.com. Thank you David just ordered another one
