FPD LAG?
« on: December 06, 2017, 09:53:04 AM »
So I noticed last night while watching my show that the part of my show running off the FPD is lagging behind by a couple of frames. My setup is as follows:

fpp (master) pi3 w audio hat -> E1.31 out to 2 f16v2s. One f16v2 outputting 4 universes of pixelnet ~32k channels total
fpp(slave) BBB -> p10 matrix
fpp(slave) pi2 FPD -> outputs ~ 2 pixelnet universes

All connected to a wired ethernet switch

all the other channels seem to be in sync except the 2 universes coming out of the FPD. wondering if this is an issue with the FPD or possibly the lower power pi? I have several other pi3s I could deploy. or even attempt to deploy a pi3 to send e1.31 to the pi2 in in bridge mode.

Just looking for thoughts on the most likely approach to resolve the issue...

Last year I was not using the pixelnet output from my f16v2 so the lag was not as noticeable since most elements were on the same lag.

Thanks in  advance!

Frank

Frank, my FPD is on a RasPi3 set as a Remote so no audio (and the Pi3 is noticeably faster than the Pi2)

It has 1 Pixelnet out (1200 pixels on an F16v1)
It has 2 DMX universes out (about 90 channels)
I'm driving 29 universes of E1.31 output to three IP addresses

So it's pretty busy. All that said, I'm not noticing any lag. Perhaps I don't program tightly enough to notice?

Switching to bridged mode with a separate pi doing the playback looks like it helped so likely a USB read issue.
