FPP and F16v3 - E1.31 Universe Output Setup

Do I leave the universe size to 510 by default or setup to however number of channels I have on the particular universe #?  Also do I set the universe count to maximum or just add as many as I need?  Also on the F16v3 webpage E131 setup, do I delete all the default 32 universe to only the number of universe that I actually use?  Why the default is F16v3 webpage E131 setup the size maximum is 510?  Can I change the size to reflex my actual Pixels connected to?  Or do I just leave all the FPP and F16v3 E131 setup default?  I am confuse so many setup up not including on the xLights configuration too.

Why the default is F16v3 webpage E131 setup the size maximum is 510?  I need to input as to why, I cannot change to what the board stated as to maximum pixels per output of the F16v3 board?

The maximum size of an E131 universe is 512 channels by definition. Maybe you need to change the pixel count on the string port page?

When dealing with pixels you generally set the max to 510 per universe because that's the highest number divisible by three. If R and G are in universe 1 and B is in universe 2 it can cause confusion.

Not for Falcon controllers, they do just fine with 512.  I have 4 that use 512 without a problem.  That problem all started with SanDevice controllers.

For each port max 510 channels that means only 170 physical pixels count per output port.  As for 512 channels what happen to the additional 2 channels?  Not used?  I also notice that when I assigned more that 510 channels it goes to next Universe number.  Seem to be easy just configure and use one port for each universe number.

Yes you can have more than 170 pixels per output port and yes that means more than one universe per output port.   That is perfectly fine with Falcon controllers


Output ports can span universes and universes can span output ports.  They are not a 1-to-1 limitation.
xLights and Vixen3 for sequencing / FPP for scheduling and playing / Falcon controllers for pixels / DIY controllers for everything else
