F16v2 doing odd things now won't reboot
« on: February 20, 2018, 03:29:30 AM »
Been testing some lights over the last few days and was using my F16v2 to test a window matrix - mostly just using the test pattern. Tonight decided to hook up to the pc and run some tests through xlights so went to the E1.31 config page and all looked good. But when I went to the string ports page, the output numbers were out of order with only 11 string ports showing up. Going from the e1.31 page back to the string ports page gives different numbers of string ports showing up - sometimes 11, sometime 13, etc. Only once saw all 16 briefly. Anyway, output to lights was all odd as although I was outputting to 414 pixel matrix, only 50 leds were lighting up suggesting the F16v2 thought it was outputting to a different string port with only 50 node count set.
So tried to reboot the F16 but now only getting the two power leds lighting up solid green  and OLED panel is blank. So after several attempts I did a reset and the OLED came back on and all looked good again. I put in the ip address, got into the F16v2 webpage and went back to setting up the E1.31 config page. Went to the string port page, saw all 16 strings showing up in order and went about setting that up. Hit save and now string ports out of order again and only 8 showing up. Hit save again and 12 show up. Quite random as to the number that show up each time. Powered down the controller, waited 30 sec, powered up again and back to no OLED display and only power lights.
Any help appreciated how to fix this  :-[ .

Ill try and check when I get home. Hopefully the controller will reboot if I reset it again if only to be able to check the version. Im guessing it will be an older version of the firmware since I took last year off doing a display and havent used the controller since end of 2016.

Running v1.06

By the way, how do you update the firmware via Mac? I can only find windows versions and the controller site said Mac version coming but that note  looks to be a year old.

Yes only Windows for the F16V2 (Blue board). Need to use USB programmer.

Download Windows USB uploader from store page.

Then the erase firmware here.

Load erase firmware via USB
It hopefully will boot then.

Then load 1.11 b006.

Had you used Xlights to load string definition?
