Mega tree with 20 pcs dc12v 5050 led rgb dumb module???
« on: March 16, 2018, 06:56:48 AM »
Ok so this may have been addressed some where but Im a noob and noobs ask uneducated questions lol!!

So let me give you the run Down,I bought these modules from Ray Wu thinking they were smart rgb but they are in fact dumb and I hadnt really plained on running any dumb rgbs because for one I dont have the right controller for them and two like I said noob here!! I dont want to mix smart and dumb and run multiple controllers

I plain on trying to run my entire show off the falcon v3 with c9 rgbs also from Ray with a few props with ws2811s bullets not to fancy this year

My question is how could I incorporate these modules to make a mega tree, and is it even possible and would it even look right

I have 12 sets of 20 module strings plzzzzz help Im so lost hahahaha

Thanks in advance

Also suggestions on controller for these?

You can use something like the 2811DC15 or 2811DC30 that I make to drive them. It will accept WS2811 pixel input and drive the dumb rgb on the output.  I'm not sure how you'd go making a mega tree out of them but I use a similar related product as 7 wall washers lighting up the walls from the edge of my eaves. Corostars are another option as I use the exact modules in my 8 corostars.
You can call me AAH, you can call me Al, or you can call me Alan.

http://www.hansonelectronics.com.au/christmas-display/ on the 2015 pics you can see the coro stars just to the left of the megatree. The coro presents under the tree have the equivalent of about 4 or 5 modules in each.  The walls are lit up with 14 50cm rigid light bars in 7 groups.
The 2 2811DC boards are at http://www.hansonelectronics.com.au/?s=2811dc&post_type=product. Prices are in Aussie dollars. They work out to about $US32 and $US49.

neat product aah. like a better dmx controller. pretty cool.
A dmx controller would be another choice but after seeing the aah product it pales in my eyes. something like this

as far as a mega tree,  You can test this.  lay out your strings on the floor in the shape of a tree. how tall is it?  maybe 10 feet? so more of a mid-tree? apply 12v to the same or different colors and see what you think. It might turn out interesting.
