Newbie help ! - Controller web access
« on: May 16, 2018, 02:12:43 PM »
I know this has been covered through searching the forum and even after following guides and youtube vids I can't seem to get it right, So its time to turn to the experts.
Basically I can not access the controller through a webpage, the screen shots attached shows how i've setup.
I have the pi through wifi which i can access through my laptop and the controller plugged into the PI

I'm also on a Mac and have typed in the sudo route add but not sure its right.
Please help (thank god I started to have a play now and not later in the year !)

Did you add the routing?

Here is a good step by step.

Thanks for the reply, that guide was the one I primarily used for the initial setup.
As Im on a Mac the step 7 isnt clear as its for Windows.
I have searched here and pasted a code into the terminal but Im not 100% sure its correct.
Would you know whats needed when using a Mac ?

What is the full sudo command you entered?
xLights and Vixen3 for sequencing / FPP for scheduling and playing / Falcon controllers for pixels / DIY controllers for everything else

I entered this one:

sudo route add 192.168.1.100/24 192.168.1.50
In the Mac terminal window, try this:

sudo route add 192.168.1.0/24 192.168.0.64

Ok, we need to delete the bad route you created before and then add the correct one.   Try this:

sudo route delete 192.168.1.0/24  192.168.1.100
sudo route  add   192.168.1.0/24  192.168.0.64

Then try again and if still not working do netstat -nr and show the output again.

Unfortunately, on MacOs they get cleared on reboot.   Here are a few different methods to add persistent routes in MacOs...

Check the Gateway value on your controller.

192.168.000.100
Is not
192.168.0.1

Jon, he is using the Pi as a gateway between his home network (192.168.0.*) and his show network (192.168.1.*).  He has the correct gateway for his controller but he had the wrong gateway in his static route
