I changed the F16V3 universes to be 1-96 with a starting channel of 33794.  That lights up the lights, sorta.

I started a new show directory and just added one prop, that lights up wonderfully.  Back to the Halloween directory, everythings screwy.  Some lights not coming on in a prop, other props have lights going in different directions. 

Only difference between the two setups is that in the Halloween setup I put universe 1 at 400 channels, and the remaining at 510.  I changed it universe 1 to 510 and voila, everything is working.  Can't believe that would be it.  I assume all universes have to be the same channel length.  Worked fine last year on the F16V2, who is to know.  Is it xlights, is it Falcon.  Don't care.  It's working and I'm happy.

I am trying to solder 18-3 wire to the end of the strip.  I am using 18-3 wire from the strip to the falcon v3 controller.

Any tips on what kind of soldering iron or solder to use.  I am using a soldering iron and electrical solder.

I would appreciate any help

I just completed the install of the power supplies, qty 4 & all 5vdc, as well as checked they were outputting 5vdc. After mounting the power supplies I verified that the jumpers on the F16v3 were set for 5vdc. All pixels will also be 5vdc.

I double checked all jumpers again prior to mounting the F16v3 and 1 more time prior to installing separate power wires, two different power supplies, on V1 & V2 "board power". I will not be using the external power as the wiring points seemed to be very small.

What I do not see is the LEDs close to the board power settings being on nor do I see anything on the OLED screen. I am sure when first starting it was supposed to say "BOOTING"

What else do I need to do or do I need to check? I powered the unit back down and will wait until I hear from you.

All the jumpers are set for 5 vdc and the LEDs at the bottom of the board are lit, as you can see in the supplied pict .

Hello, I am so happy I stumbled upon this forum as I want to do my first RGB display this year and get away form standard bulbs that dont do anything. I know I am late in the season to get into it but I think with a little elbow grease I can get a display ready for Christmas. I think due to all the features now available and in the future I am going to purchase the F16V3 Pixel Controller - Ready to Run setup so I know I will have a great base to build upon. I think I will also get a raspberry pi so I can have everything self contained in one place and nw need to worry about my computer going to sleep mi display. I was looking at getting the diyledexpress PixaBulbs because I like the look of C9 bulbs to do a basic outline of my house this year. Does anyone have experience with the PixaBulbs and know how they compare to others like ray wu and holidaycoro? This is a dumb question but the ready to run controller has different options for pigtails and one of them is diyledexpress, do you know if this will work with the 4 wire PixaBulbs? Thanks for all the help so far and I hope to keep learning from all you knowledgeable people.

I've seen connectors for 4 conductor Dumb Strips, but not for 3 Conductor Pixel Strips.  The way I've done it is to cut both ends as straight as possible, but them up, and create a solder bridge over 1 set of pads.  Then I lay a very short piece of copper wire (like from Cat5) over the next set of pads, and cover the pads and wire with solder.  Do the same for the next set of pads, then go back and add a piece of wire to the first ones you soldered.  You now have a very strong durable connection.  Cover it with clear 3:1 shrink tube (maybe add a bit of Silicone II over the soldered area to insure no water penetration) and you are good to go.
I'm not sure yet but my gut now says it's because I don't have an actual audio output. So it tries but can't open the audio driver and stops. This is why it plays from my browser and why in test mode it plays the sequence. So FPP is tripping up that there is no audio device, totally space that it's disabled with the PiCAP.  Off to find a usb audio device (have a couple around here somewhere) and see if that proves it!

Even though you have two outputs on the Picap you only have 1 start channel so the channels on both outputs are contiguous.

Ok, so in S4 I have universe 5 with 128 pixels, or 384 channels . Then universe 6 has 104 pixels or 312 channels. cant have one universe in S4 cause 232 pixels would be over the 512 channels per universe. How would I proceed? This is what has got me hung up.
Since I am using universe #5, should it be starting channel 5 X 512 +1 = 2561? then 512 for the first GPIB 18 and 104 for the GPIB 19 field?

Falcon Player (FPP) / FPP running Pi & BBB together - IP address issues

Hi there, I've been looking over the forums here for a few days now and I'm still a bit lost here in the networking dept. What I've got is a Pi 2 running my pixles & DMX on an Alphapix 4. I'll be using the ethernet port to control the Alphapix like I usually do. New this year I got a BBB with an Octoscroller from Renard Plus to run lots of LED matrix panels.

I want the Pi to be the Master and the BBB be remote, both wireless. With both running here's what's happening:

I have the Pi set @ It shows up playing as Master in multisynch as a Beaglebone Black ...odd. If I change the IP to, reboot, the Pi shows up as, Is running as Master, but so is the BBB on the original address as Master-2  (which I can no longer access, only the new IP I made for thr Pi). I cannot figure out how to change the BBB to be a remote as it's starred as a local system in tandem with the Pi, no checkmark to fill in.

The USB in the BBB is a duplicate of what's on the Pi, not sure if that's something I did wrong but it was the first time I got the BBB to work on FPP. Any thoughts?


Don't forget if you have a PiCap or other that the built in Audio is disabled, no Audio driver FPP aborts the seq since it can't output the audio (not sure if that is a feature :)). But adding an audio device allowed my seq to function without an issue. So media file but no audio output (seq is not going to run!)

someone cited on FB that they had something similar and it turned out to be the audio file. Well I can play the audio file inside fpp and it sounds fine. I can play the entire thing in xlights without an issue. I just ran it again (status page, select the halloween playlist, play) runs for a few seconds and stops. This log doesn't look like it's showing much information. Since the audio (mp3) plays in xlights, on fpp via the browser and audacity. i'm unclear what is going on :)

Another bit of info the sequence plays fine when in test mode (no audio), so maybe there is something special about the audio. But I can't tell what it is...

I also thought maybe it was the spaces in the audio file name (silly) but I removed them, same thing. Something with that file, but what? And now I've remove the "-" as well, no change

Any assistance would be great.

So I don't really understand what I am doing wrong.  I have a Dla active hub off of the first cat5 jack off of a f16v3 to the active hub.  I want the first 4096 channels to go to the active hub.  Somehow I believe that they are going to both the f16v3 and the active hub.  I set the first port on f16v3 to 4097 and it works fine.  I have to set up under that port virtual strings of the pixelnet active hub channels to get them to work.  When I test through the raspberry pi I get funny colors out of port 1 on f16v3.  So I started messing with testing channels.  If I remove channel one on the test through raspberry  pi all test rgb correctly.  So I thought it might just be the test function.  So I made a test sequence with just two items one with channel 4097-5000 and another 25-343.  The colors coming from active hub are correct but again the colors on the f16v3 are wrong.  If anyone has knowledge in using an active hub with this set up I would greatly appreciate it.  I am willing to do a teamview with anyone to see how I have everything configured.   I can also loggin to the zoom meeting if someone could help me.
