Falcon Player (FPP) / FPP Startup
« Last post by lrhorer on Today at 06:37:23 PM »
Hello.

I loaded the beta version of FPP yesterday, and everything seems to be working fine as far as the system itself.  I have a little issue, however.  I have a UPS attached which requires the use of two GPIO pins and the I2C bus.  I will work on the I2C bus daemon after I get the GPIO working.
I tried setting the GPIO pins using a simple System V script.  The script itself works, but something in the FPP setup apparently resets the pins.  GPIO 19 gets asserted during boot, but after a few seconds the pin gets reset.  This pin attaches the battery to the UPS so the system will remain up during a power failure.  So much for the UPS functionality.  As a data point, when I restart FPPD manually from within the GUI, the pin remains asserted.
I am not all that familiar with SystemD, but I did my best to create a SystemD script instead of a SystemV script.
The questions are:
1.  Is a boot script the best wayto handle this, or is there functionality within FPP that handles it better?  I know FPP can manage the GPIO pins, but offhand I don't see a way to enable GPIO 19 set high and GPIO 17 set as an input with a pull-up resistor.
2.  If a boot script is the way to go, what is wrong with my script?  Details below.

Code: [Select]
FPP:/etc/systemd/system# ll gpioset.target
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 58 May 27 23:37 gpioset.target -> /etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants/gpioset.target
FPP:/etc/systemd/system# cat gpioset.target
[Unit]
Description=gpioset
After=network.target getty.target apache2.target generic-board-startup.service remote-fs.target fppd.service

[Service]
Type=oneshot
RemainAfterExit=no
ExecStart=/etc/init.d/gpioset.sh

[Install]
WantedBy=multi-user.target

FPP:/etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants# cat /etc/init.d/gpioset.sh
#!/bin/sh

/usr/local/bin/gpio mode 24 out
/usr/local/bin/gpio write 24 1
/usr/local/bin/gpio mode 17 up

FPP:/etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants# systemctl status gpioset

I don't understand the basename reference, at all.

letting the schedule run as a test i looked back at the log and notice a ton of messages that things are blacklisted, couldnt update timestamps and so on, why is this? it seems to play fine although i dont have my lights all setup

I can add to a playlist, delete from it and change its name, just cannot delete the playlist itself..

v2.x-master-593-ga2700fd6

JonB did you try adding a playlist then deleting it?  Were you successful?

If it happens the same on a Pi and a BBB, then it is most likely a code isssue.
I'll try creating and deleting on Pi and BBB, all running v2.0. I have one list now but haven't tried editing or deleting.

Good pount

The only way I have been able to delete a playlist is by using the finder window using SMB for UNC on my pc, trying to delete using FPP does nothing

Not sure we want to guide the mass and newbies to this process....(major train wreck)  Best to fix the broken code.   :)

Running Alpha v2 and no USB drive.  All on microSD

Edit:  Also typical for all my v2 Pi's and BBB - v1.10 can still delete

There is a way (discussed sometime last year), using SSH, to repair and then remount a partition that has been flagged with a "dirty bit"

The "dirty bit" is what is causing the partition, whether on uSD or USB drive, to mount as Read Only.

Doing a search for "dirty bit", I found this older posting. It is equivalent to a "check disk" or "scan disk" in Windows.

I am in central TX (Georgetown, just north of Austin). Is the group limited to the DFW area?
Don't forget Duane driving over frequently from Shreveport.
It's a 90 mile drive for me (in Granbury)
