Falcon Player (FPP) / Re: Master/Remote sync/ file permission issues?

Hate to ask this, but did you try rebooting the remote?   Also, are you storing in SD or USB?  If USB, what filesystem?   On 2.x, it fixes/updates permissions for the entire media directory on bootup.  Thus, if something gets out of wack, a reboot should fix it.    That kind of assumes ext4/btrfs that actually store permissions though.   The other thing that causes this would be if the drive went read-only.   A reboot MAY fix that, not really sure.

Dan, this may sound silly, but I just downloaded the latest version off the Github website Tue morning -- is that where I would find the master 707 branch?

Once you have that installed, go to the about.php page (click the version in the header) and force a manual update to the latest 2.1 code.   After that, go to http://{ip address}/developer.php and select "master" from the drop down list.  It will "hang" for a while (this is a developer tool, things like UI status isn't as important) and eventually come back as v2.x-master.

I will try that after I get off work. I am guessing I fire up my Pi (that is my Master device) and go to that link? I would type this in my browser: 192.168.1.150/developer.php.  right?

More or less, yes.  However, you need to go to the about.php page first and make sure you have the latest 2.1 code first.

I'm interested in seeing what happens here as I am having the same, or very similar issues:

Rasp Pi running v2.1 of FPP, BBB as a remote running the latest version of FPP. Playlist comes on at the right time, but only plays the very first song/sequence in the playlist. This first song/sequence does have video going to the remote. As soon as that song stops, so does the playlist - FPP on the Pi (Master) reports 'FPPD has Stopped'. Sometimes I can just hit 'Start FPPD' and it starts again, but starts the playlist over at the 1st song again. Switching the Pi from Master to Standalone and back also works, but again, the playlist plays the 1st song again, then stops.

Curious about the highlighted line. What do you mean "This first song/sequence does have video going to the remote." ???

In the original post by Doug, he mentions he has video playing from his Master device with no issues. I was clarifying that I play video in my 1st sequence via the Master to the remote device.

I am trying to upgrade from 1.8 to 2.1. I pulled the micro SD card & tried to reformat the card & get error message. (see below)
How do I unlock or do I just need to buy a new SD card?

Can you guys update to the latest master code (master-707 or better)?   I've been doing a ton of changes on the SDL code the last couple days.  I'm hoping it's better.

Can you go to /developer.php on the master and flip to "master" branch?   I'd like to see if that fixes it.   I'm hoping to release 2.2 tomorrow or Monday.  I've been reworking some of The SDL handling  (sound/video to matrix) so it might be fixed.   With 2.1, the SDL mp3/4 decoding was being done on the main thread (OK for just audio), but I discovered that with video, it may suck up the entire thread and then the commands (like status query) don't work and everything seems dead.    Had to move the decoding to a separate thread which has proven a bit tricky. (although good news is the multicore Pi's can take more advantage of it now)

We are having issues with our controller and pi talking to each other and the controller getting data. everything separately works, the alpha pix 16 runs the lights alone (just in test mode no sequence or xlights info) the pi is running fpp and we are able to ping from laptop and upload sequence, set up playlist, and even get everything set for the network.

According to the "screen" everything should be working, but when i try to test nothing is working. The light on the the controller for the data being sent is not lit only the led that the Ethernet is plugged in. I  do not know if it is because we are plugged into a WIFI extender that is running off of our main router? Also did not know if maybe we would need a network switch. We do not have a desktop only laptop so run off of wifi, so instead of running Ethernet from the one side of the house, was hoping to use the existing wifi extender that was already in the garage for the light show. Any advise?

Already have dozens of hours into this and that is all that is missing is the computer side of this!! also when i did set up the controller the other night i had the Ethernet on the computer to the extender and also to the controller and everything was great i had a connection and i was able to "talk" to it and ping it. I set everything up. Then i realized i never finished the download of the firmware update so maybe that was an issue when i started to back track to the beginning.

Update- i just tried taking the controller and hooking that up to my home router by itself and my laptop as well and still can not get the controller to sync to the show network.everything is matching in IP address numbers and i have tried every single video.Am i missing something?

Pi is running fine IP is matched perfectly, static ip is different from home and it is not my wifi ip, i even took the pi inside and hooked it up to a tv to double check that it was still running everything the same. Tried different cords, i have now seen a orange light flash every once in a while on the controller port so i know data is going through. Sorry lots of info. I have added to this all day after going back and forth before posting.

I don't have an answer but your "stream of consciousness" style of posting was very hard to follow. :)
