SOLVED: Possible to power PiCap and LEDs from the RPi? - No
« on: January 03, 2019, 11:40:53 AM »
Quick question: We are driving a very small number of WS2812 LEDs from our PiCap (total of 12 RGB LEDs)

Since the power draw is very low, is it possible to power the LEDs and the PiCap from the RPi? We already have a bunch of 4A MicroUSB power supplies.

The answer is NO: you need to provide power to the PiCap, and it will provide power to the Pi. You cannot power the PiCap from the Pi.

The jumper configuration info for power is silkscreened on the bottom surface of the PiCap.
