Thanks a lot Pop. The tree will be within the 25 distance you refer to.
My name is Steve and I'm just getting started. but I think this will become a huge hobby!!

25 feet might be pushing it. You will have to test it. Some people do not get 25 feet but usually close.
If to err is human, I am more human than most people.

Is the 25 more for data or power? Cause I can add an F-amp for data.

If youre looking at two controllers (one for the house, and one in the yard for the trees), then you shouldnt have a problem with data transmission

I agree Bwinter but Im debating whether to do a tree the first year or just the house and wreaths the first year.

The 25 is more for data but depending on wiring, power could be a problem as well.

Here is an example of a possible layout. I did not include power injection as that will vary on other factors. The layout does provide a relatively short access to potential injection points and room for expansion. This layout might not work if you are going with real close spacing. Other people might have a better idea, but this will work and the wire runs are minimal. FYI, it doesn't matter how you join things together in regards to sequencing as long as your wiring layout matches XLights set up. With this setup, all you will need in the way of controllers is an F16V3 and a Differential Receiver. The Differential Receiver is relatively inexpensive ($17.00)

Thanks Pop. I do plan on using close spacing (2") on everything except the wreaths (1").

So I just received my Pi3B+, and loaded it up with FPP. All is working out nicely so far. Xlights is a bit overwhelming but I should be able to get the hang of it by Christmas haha. The majority of the pieces and parts for my control box build have arrived. Just waiting on a few more to arrive and I can start putting it together. It may be that no one cares about my build but Im going to post status pics along the way lol.
