Thanks for the feedback.  I don't think we expected ethernet or USB to work with a stock v0.3.0 SD image based on the article comments that we'd need a newer kernel and firmware.  Tony is working on a new NOOBS image that uses the existing v0.3.0 image wrapped in the latest NOOBs installer code.  Once that is working smoothly, we can see about getting a newer kernel and firmware on it to see how things go as well as testing that same kernel and firmware on the original model B to check to see if it has the audio quality issues that forced us to use an older kernel and firmware in the v0.3.0 SD image.

That's what I was thinking too ;-)

you can do the following - UNSUPPORTED on your Model B before booting into a B+

Hey I just got a Raspberry Pi Model B+ and the USB/Ethernet doesn't work!
Your kernel/firmware (operating system) has to be updated to support the new USB/Ethernet controller chip! The annoying thing is that
to upgrade you kinda need network connectivity which you can't get if USB/Ethernet is down. If you have a spare Model B around, try running

    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get upgrade

To update to the latest kernel!

I am at lunch right now and dont have time to test the older noobs installer - so it might not boot at all with newer kernel/drivers etc - so try this on a backup card - well would have to be since its a mSD :)

Great.  Big question will be "how is the audio?". :). And then if we put that in a model B using an adapter, what does the sound sound like there.

I'll have to hunt through the threads...but was the issue with Audio related to the USB vast or the mini audio jack?

If I remember I think there was three areas of discussion about audio,
#1 audio quality

#2 playing MP3, .ogg and MP4 files "when using HDMI, the audio goes to through the HDMI port when you play a sequence attached to an MP3 (or .ogg) the audio is delivered through the 3.5mm socket"    http://falconchristmas.com/forum/index.php/topic,997.0.html

#3 USB vast: Materdaddy is  rewriting the coded aka plug-in.

#1 is a kernel/firmware bug and the reason why we are using a slightly older kernel and firmware version.  This is the main issue here with the B+.  we need to see if the newer kernel/firmware have the big fix for the model B's audio otherwise we can't support the B and B+ with a single SD image until the bug is fixed since the B+ requires the new kernel.

#2 is a small code change that I plan of fixing very soon.

#3 is being worked on by Mat as indicated.

There is also a #4, we can't currently control the volume during video playback because the video player does not use ALSA and go through the mixer.  I am also looking into this and the fix might be part of the MultiSync video sync code or it may be another solution I have looked at.

i picked up my b+ this afternoon along with a wifi adapter...now that I have three pi's i need to figure out the best use for them.

my intention is to keep the one for the show as is (it has LCD, FPD and my EDM connected to it already)....the second one I want to use for the show as well, but for video projection (either of virtual santa or full house)...the third one I'm thinking of xbmc because my jailbroken apple tv needs a tethered boot all the time and it's a PAIN.

I think I'll take the b+ and use it for video projector and use the other b for the xvmc setup.
