Expand file system or create partition for storage on SD card
« on: February 13, 2019, 07:31:12 PM »
I have a Pi zero with 2.6.  Should I expand the file system or create a partition to store sequences?  Is one better than the other?  I do not want to use a USB flash drive. Thanks

Just expand the file system, there is little reason to put sequences and media on a separate partition.

One reason to create a separate partition is that you can format the new partition with FAT and then you can insert the SD card in a Windows PC and read+write files directly to that partition.  This is similar to the previous method of using a separate USB drive that you can plug into the PC to copy show files faster than pushing across the network.

With many large fseq files that can be a huge time saver.   However, with the new compressed and sparse features enabled for fseq-v2, the huge file-copy issues are mostly gone too.
