Difficulty getting a new BBB to boot from uSD (and fix)
« on: March 08, 2019, 02:37:22 PM »
Picked up two of the $30 Beagles recently posted about here. Beaglebone Blacks.

One of them was initially "resistant" to booting from a v2.5 uSD card but finally did and has been acting normally since it updated the newer Bootloader.

The second one was very difficult. At one point, I thought perhaps the uSD slot was bad. Holding down S2 while connecting power just didn't work. Sometimes it wouldn't boot at all or just ignored it and booted from eMMC.

What I finally tried was a new Beagle Debian image from Beagleboard. It immediately took that and updated the eMMC with the newer version. From then on, I had no problem with either the S2 method or just booting from a uSD card with a fresh v2.5 image on it.

All 4 of mine booted up just fine with a MicroSD card and the latest FPP image.

Mine also came up just fine (at least after remembering to plug in the uSD card with the FPP image on it)...
Using LOR (mostly SuperStar) for all sequencing - using FPP only to drive P5 and P10 panels.
