RFE: DHCP Server for the Falcon Player
« on: March 09, 2018, 09:22:40 PM »
https://wiki.debian.org/HowTo/dnsmasq

Could you add dnsmasq package and a GUI interface to configure it.

Basically if the Falcon Player has a static IP:
Stage 1:  Enable DHCP server and it configures the IP address to the Pi to 10.X.X.X something hard coded, and then configures the DHCP server and starts it. The user can not change anything. i.e. On or Off
Stage 2:  Add some more configuration. e.g. for a given Ethernet address define the hostname and the IP address that the client will get.
Stage 3:  Add some more configuration.

At this stage the DHCP server should only be available on the Ethernet port. So that wireless can still be a DHCP client.

We have looked into this as part of some larger networking enhancements but it isn't likely to happen in v2.0 which we are currently focused on.  Patches are welcome though if you want to take a look at it. :)
