Single Channel DMX AC or DC Switches
« on: July 13, 2019, 12:14:43 PM »
I've pretty much moved all of my stuff away from AC or DC except for a few floods and strobes so I really don't need to have 16 port controllers for them any longer.  What I'd like to do is move to Single Channel DMX AC or DC Switches, so I'm looking for recommendations from the group.  I've seen posts on these before but for some reason cannot find them anywhere.  Thanks in advance for the help!

Are you looking for a switch or a dimmer?

I don't need it to do anything other than on or off.  No dimming required.  The 3 channel one would work but I could have sworn I saw someone post a single channel one somewhere.

No other thoughts here?  Thought there were other options.

If you aren't going to be turning the single channel on / off a lot, I'd consider using a USB Relay like:

http://www.icstation.com/icstation-micro-channel-relay-module-control-relay-module-icse012a-p-4012.html

https://youtu.be/8XVLBQZt03Q

These are fully supported in the "other" category of Output devices and work great from Pi or BBB.
They get a DMX channel assigned and directly usable in xLights.
It gets all the power it needs from the USB cable. (the SainSmart relay boards can be more trouble to connect - these ICStation boards are simple and cheap)

Each relay can switch 10 amps, AC or DC. The voltage you apply to the relay is isolated from the FPP controlling it. (up to 250VAC)
