Other events?
« on: December 16, 2014, 10:06:15 PM »
Are there alternatives to the Academy in Conroe?

I recall there is "another event" that happens about the same time of year...  is it the Planet Christmas Expo?

I see the next Expo occurs July 16-18, 2015 (Location to be announced)

Maybe this would be an opportunity to get Nutcracker, Falcon, and FPP in front of a new crowd. :)

Is anyone considering the Expo?
Is there another event to consider instead?

Christmas Expo. (ChristmasExpo.com) I went to it last year in Biloxi, MS and it was quite informative.

Then again, you must know that I believe you could combine the two shows and create a Christmas Mega Show. EVERYONE should go if that ever happened.  :)
Sequencers: Vixen3 and xLights
Players: FPP and xSchedule Controllers:  Renards - SS24/SS16; E1.31 - San Devices E682 - Falcon F16, F4, F48 - J1Sys - DIYLEDExpress E1.31 Bridges.  Much more!

I will consider anywhere David and Chris are going.  I have a need to learn more all the time.  Plus it is nice to see old friends and young ones too.

As a new "vendor", I'm looking at ways to get my name out there.

I was considering the Academy, but I'm afraid of melting in the Texas heat/humidity!

Maybe we should organize something in Colorado!  LOL.

I've been wondering what and when the events are going to happen as well.

I went to christmas expo in biloxi last year. I gave some talks on falcon equipment, the pi player and xlights.

Different crowd that the academy (which i was also at the rpevious week). Expo has a much larger LOR crowd and not as much focus on DIY.
The xlights/fpp talk was to a packed room (maybe 100-150 people).

both are nice.

Sean,
I sat through the entire afternoon with you teaching.  GOOD STUFF.
Thank you.

Now, I do believe we could combine the two.  Bring the LORs of the world into the DIY world, and vice-versa.  (Actually think there is more cross-over here than most would admit to.)

2014 was my first. I went to get educated in this field as far as the product needed. If it wasn't for Sean teaching the NC/xlights class. I wouldn't know anything about Falcon equipment. When can I get on the pre- purchase list for the new V.2 board.
Thank you Sean for providing a class of great learning. And to Ed Bryson (Joshua 1systems)for suggesting that I go check out this new software that is the future in this field.
Any event that helps educate and broadens the consumer knowledge. Is a great idea if it is done in a cost effective manner.

I'm hoping a destination for a show is chosen soon.  Really want to make vacation plans.

for what its worth, having attended both Expo and Academy I second Sean's comments about Expo.  Not as much DIY...there was even a guy that was using a screwdriver bit for a drill..oh wait...that was Sean :).  But they are definitely LOR centric, much less DIY at Expo.  Plus I had a great time hanging out with everybody in Conroe for the after the show dinner.

There's a ton of convention/event space between Denver and the Springs - Fort Collins/Loveland too.

If there's enough "serious" interest, I could reach out and find some meeting planners.
