RGBMatrix Output Connections for BBB?
« on: March 02, 2015, 04:55:54 AM »
In the online help for the FPP it shows the pin outs for the Raspberry Pi and the wiki has a good write up on how to install the BBB, but is there a way to connect the BBB to a panel without a cap and just using male to female jumper wires?

RGBMatrix Output Connections
LED Panel   Raspberry Pi
GND - Ground   Pin 3 - GND
R1 - Red 1st bank   Pin 11 - GPIO 17
G1 - Green 1st bank   Pin 12 - GPIO 18
B1 - Blue 1st bank   Pin 15 - GPIO 22
R2 - Red 2nd bank   Pin 16 - GPIO 23
G2 - Green 2nd bank   Pin 18 - GPIO 24
B2 - Blue 2nd bank   Pin 22 - GPIO 25
A - Row address   Pin 26 - GPIO 7
B - Row address   Pin 24 - GPIO 8
C - Row address   Pin 21 - GPIO 9
D - Row address   (Not Used for 32x16 panels
OE - Neg. Output Enable   Pin 3 - GPIO 2
CLK - Serial Clock   Pin 5 - GPIO 3
STR - Strobe row data   Pin 7 - GPIO 4

I think you should be able to do this with the LEDscape code we are using, but I haven't looked at a pinout yet.  You will also be able to drive ws281x pixels the same way if they are able to handle the lower voltage level output from the BBB without having a level shifter in the middle.

Well my octoscroller boards are going in on Wednesday by the looks of it, so I assume in about 2 weeks they will arrive here.  I'll see if I can make anysense of the traces - mind you I don't think I have any spare transceivers, so will have to put in a small mouser order one day soon too...unless they aren't needed.

Also found this LEDscape pin assignments.csv
