Just thought i'd post this in case someone was interested.

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/P10-Indoor-SMD-3in1-Full-Color-Led-Display-Module-1-8scan-320-160mm-high-quality/1599051786.html

I've purchased panels from these guys before (and PatDelaney too) from another listing they have for $18.80/ea shipping included.

These panels are currently on sale for $11.47/ea + shipping, so you don't really get below $18.80/ea until you hit 7 or more panels.  Over 10 panels, price drops to $10.89/ea + shipping.  Those buying 12 panels for a 3x4 matrix would pay $201.32, which works out to $16.78/ea.  That's a pretty good deal considering DHL shipping.  Buying more panels drops price even further, like 30 panels would be $15.36/ea

HTH someone.

UPDATE

As Reported by CaptainMurdoch:

Ray Wu has lowered his prices, so he is an even better deal right now.  12 panel matrix would be $15.94/ea (shipped).  20 panels drops price to $14.99/ea (shipped). 30 panels drops price to $14.49/ea (shipped)

Just for reference, the current code in FPP only supports the 1/8 scan panels which are normally 32x16.  I will be ordering a 64x32 or 32x32 to test with but I haven't yet looked at the changes required to support those if any are even necessary.  I would hold off on buying any 1/16 panels until someone tests or support is confirmed.

Oops. I put the title as 32x64, that is not correct, it is 16x32, which is the actual product in the link I provided. I'll try to correct that when I get home unless someone can do it as an admin. Sorry about the confusion.

That's a great price, especially in bulk. Looking at the specs, they list brightness at >1200cd/m2, and the boards on Ray Wu's store list brightness at > 2000cd/m2. That's quite a difference!  In large quantities, his price is $13.63/ea. Here is the link to his: http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/P10-rgb-SMD-3in1-full-color-indoor-LED-Display-screen-unit-board-32-16pixels-320mm-160mm/701799_866772137.html
Am I missing something?

I bought a dozen P10 LED panels from Shenzhen Evershine Opto-Technology Co., Limited (12.67 each + shipping).  Had no way to check them out for a week so I accepted the shipment through AliExpress.  Turns out that all but one panel worked fine. I then E-mailed the vendor and they stated they would be happy to send me a new panel when I shipped back the bad one. I have to admit that their add said that the buyer pays return shipping but on a defective product that they will throw out!  So after checking shipping cost (even the cheapest way was greater than the cost of the panel) I E-mailed them that I would not be shipping the panel back, all my future orders will be with other vendors and I would leave poor feedback. And now this is part of the bad feedback.
I think I'll give Ray a try with my next order, his price looks good, I've never had any problems with my previous orders and he takes Paypal when you contact him directly.

Yeah, I think he dropped his price.  Someone must have emailed him.  :)  I think he was over $20 per panel before shipping last time I checked, that's why I was considering looking elsewhere.  I am now looking at getting some panels from him instead of the ones I was looking at getting.  I still have to place an order with him for some other stuff, so shipping may come out a little cheaper even.

Anyone know if Ray provides the short cables and magnetic mounting post with the panels?

He did with mine. (but I did specifically ask for them).  I got 4 magnets per panel, one HUB cable per panel and a bunch of "dual ended" power cables.

Chris,

I enjoyed speaking with you at the Expo.  I was the person who brought in a Pi-2 for the image set-up on Thursday and you said you were a few weeks away from having the image ready for the Pi-2.

After several sessions inside the little room and in your class, I know what I want to do this year and it is this:

I want to make one single row of 24 panels to hang from my lower eve so my question is this:

Will this be possible to do with my Pi-2 connected to the FPP, then circuiting out to the BBB/octoscroller set-up?  Will this set up support 24 panels or will I need to do two BBB/octoscroller combos?

And, is there anything else I need to address?

Thanks for all of the information at the Expo.  Pretty exciting stuff!

Charles, while the Octoscroller / BBB  can support 64 panels, because of ribbon cabling, I think you'll need 2 BBBs.  First one in the middle of 6 and 6. Second between the next 6 and 6.

If you only needed 16, then you could do 8 and 8.

The gents in Australia say they've been successful with 5Meter cables from the BBB to the first panel with ferrite cores at each end.  I ordered a few cores from my supplier to test, and will report back here.  Here is their post:
