Universe 2 from Falcon Hub on ports 1-4
« on: October 27, 2015, 07:50:55 PM »
Beating my head against the wall here for a few days with a bad active hub, so tonight I swap my Falcon hub in place instead.

I have 2 uSSC that are on universe two at 7680 for the baywindow and 7830 for the bottom of said window

Programming lights them up their alternating color groups when I have the hub ports 1-4 set for pixelnet A which is universe 1.

when i switch the ports 1-4 to pixelnet B, (which is set for universe 2 via jumpers) in a few seconds my whole window with 2 different uSSC goes white and stays white untl I power it off.

If I run xlights with all 4 pixelnet universes with the selector for ports 1-4 in B I get nothing (it has gone all white)

if I switch back to A on ports 1-4 I get alternating like the rest of the pixels.

I guess I am not getting how this is supposed to work.

in the uSSC programming utility I have them programmed for the universe 2 channel numbers no offset, so the 7680 and the 7830

Alan, Can you take a picture of your pin jumper locations. I think that you may just have them set incorrectly.

I have tried a few different configurations. Here was one last night.

How I THINK it should work is:

uSC programmed with 7830 as address

Lsp or nutcracker set at that as the controller/model channels

Universe 2 selected on the hub

Cables run from universe 2 ports to the uSC controllers.

Just a minor point, but when you set an address for the SSC or uSC all the addresses are set to something between 1 and 4096.  It is the offset from the start of the universe.  The configuration program adjusts the channel number by converting to the equivalent offset channel.  The universe is completely controlled by the jumpers on the hubs.  I have programmed uSCs and tested them using different universes and they all work based on the offset.  Can be kind of handy if you need to move a big element to another universe and can leave the offsets alone.

Jim is correct. I do think the software expects the ssc and uSCs to be on universe one. I do not send the commands to all universes. I did this purposely to somewhat protect the other universes in case the user had "All SSC's on hub" selected by accident. If they did it would only wipe the first universe . I know I could do much more advanced options which include detecting the universe to send to based on channel number but I did not. :)

Maybe in the future.

I've noticed the hub address is reduced by the universe.

I am thinking I need to use the 3284 and move my B jumper back to 2 and move port 1-4 to B position and transmit the channels as what out of xlights and LSP?

e.g. 7380 or 3284 so I light up universe 2 items and not universe 1 items..

Here is a screen print from the programmer utility:

Does not matter. Software sends 3284 to controller whether you type in 7380 or 3284. So I always use the actual channel from Xlights to make it simple. The software will X%4096 before sending to controller.

Well not totally true (unless I misunderstand what you are saying David, and that is ABSOLUTELY possible). In Xlights if you have model, let's say window 1 and it is on universe 1 with a start channel of 3584. Now you have a model of window 2 and you want it to be on universe 2 and a start channel of 7680, you have to set it in x lights as a start channel of 7680 or the software will never send a command on unverse 2. If you set window 2 to 3584 and you have your jumpers set to universe 2 window 2 will never light. If memory serves me correct it is the same in LSP.

SSC only knows 1-4096, software 1-32768 or more.

I was talking about the falcon software and programming not xlights

Ok That makes sense. I was trying to answer this question.

I just programmed v4 sscs with falcon firmware on universe two a few days ago, worked just fine.  Software did the translation to the 1-4096 but still programmed, note I did the "all on hub option" but the hub had jumpers on universe 2

I can give this another go tomorrow night, had some family gatherings, some house honey do's getting in the way when David was available to talk a bone head through it all.
