My big toy...
« on: November 14, 2015, 05:29:04 PM »
I have the privilege of taking care of the lighting on the East Main Street Bridge in Welland Ontario Canada.  It was originally a lift bridge serving the City of Welland on the Welland Canal.  The canal has been rerouted around the city but the structure remains.  Tonight in honor of our friends in France, I set it up to cycle the colors of the Flag of France.

Truthfully its just a great big DMX playground.  Although I don't get nearly enough time to play here anymore, I do find some time to play at work

I hope you all enjoy this

It is largely made of Philips Powercore fixtures.  It has an IPlayer as a controller.  I did take our a PI and with all the DMX addresses in hand, created a sequence that made the bridge really "get up and dance"   Since it is visible from 2 separate roadways, and I am in the traffic industry, I had to tone it back to something a little more subdued.  If anyone wants any more info on the hardware involved, I would be happy to provide it.  Just send me a PM.

If you thing the stuff we use is expensive, trust me, this bridge has it all beat.....  By a longshot!

A search for Welland Bridge lighting found a lot of YouTube videos.

Well done David. Next weekend you can come do the CN tower. After that my parents are just around the corner and could use a 16 channel mini setup for the season :)

Very nice bridge. I'll might take the kids down for a look tonight, I'm just in the north end of St. Catharines.
