Octoscroller Cape
« on: January 05, 2016, 02:54:12 PM »
Looking to buy 2 Octoscrollers, anyone willing to sell me a couple?  Maybe point me in the direction to purchase a couple, maybe even a group buy.

Even cheaper during his pre-sale:  http://pixelsequencing.mysimplestore.com/products/octoscroller-012

Great find.  Just IM'd with Roger and he said he will have them with RTC soon.

Slight OT.  When do you need RTC?  When BBB is not on internet?

I believe so.  Say you want to do a parade float or something like that - that's my best guess.  Roger just threw in the information when I was asking if the capes were fully assembled or kits so I thought I would share.  And yes, his capes are fully assembled (some other vendors sell kit and/or fully assembled so it's always good to check).

Yup. If you shut down the BBB (or Pi), when you boot back up without an internet connection, the BBB won't know what time it is unless you manually set it. A RTC will keep the time using a battery (much like bios in a pc).

I have taken my P10 (3x3) display to a few local events and just had a short graphic and text (no audio) FSEQ file to run.

I don't have an RTC and had no Wireless or Wired connection. I just created a Playlist and set the schedule for Every Day from 00:00 to 24:00.
So, it would boot and just start running the playlist.

I tried the trick of setting the play list for run time from 00:00 24:00 still not working. If I add a rtc do I have to program it or does it just start working on the BBB?

You don't program it as much as "enable" it on the Time page
