Vi Vi or Other?
« on: March 22, 2016, 06:56:44 PM »
Hi All

ViVi just went live on kickstarter and I wanted to voice my thoughts and get other opinions.

So ViVi seems to be a way to plug in lights to any audio and have the lights do something meaningful.
I like that alot, and I have been searching for something like this for a long time.
I posted this under Software, because really, thats what I want, his software.
The hardware looks somewhat limiting compared to what I am used to in the DIY Christmas arena.
AKA, no support or 12V lights, only 450 channels, only 3 light "ports", no long distance handling.
I did contact the guy, and null nodes should be easy enough to add.

Real holy grail is his software spitting out Pixelnet.

Honestly, the channel limit doesn't even bother me much, as the use case for this is hanging out in the backyard while grilling... I don't need 30,000 channels, nor do i want that.

Anybody know of anything better?
Any other thoughts?

Can the falcon PI be made to do this?

No, FPP can not do this currently.

I have wondered if if would be possible one day to incorporate LightShowPi onto the FPP SD images for "filler" material but it is very low priority so I have only barely liked at it.  If there were/is an easy to use library then that might make things easier to implement but still low priority.

I'd hoped to see the winamp visualizers ported to fpp or xl.
a large collection of visualizer plugins seem to be community-developed.

the visualizers seem to be connected to the music, but it might be that they run independently of the music and just fit anything that is played.  |  110K channels, 50K lights  |  Nutcracker, Falcon, DLA, HolidayCoro
