Pi 3B + boot issue
« on: June 08, 2018, 10:55:09 AM »
Has anyone had an issue with v.18 not booting on a Pi 3b +?  I am trying my first install of FPP, and I am only getting a rainbow screen when booting the PI?

I assume you mean version 1.8 and not .18
Assuming that is the case, you MUST go to the version 2.0 for the 3+ (the Pi 3 works fine on 1.x).

Using LOR (mostly SuperStar) for all sequencing - using FPP only to drive P5 and P10 panels.

Rainbow usually means you are not giving enough power to it and all the devices plugged into it.  Make sure its at least 2A power supply

Have tried 3 2.5A power supplies.  I can boot a slightly older version of rasbian with no problems.  I am wondering if its something on the microsd.  The one that boots is a 16gb.  THe ones that won't are a 32 and a 128.

I don't think you can format (FAT) anything larger than 32gb.  There are software tools out there that will allow you to do this. I think you can format 32gb ok? But you will most certainly need some software help to format the 128gb

So - I used the 2.0 beta, booted it in one of my Pi3b, shut down, then booted in my 3B+.  No HDMI Output, but can get in via FPP Webpage.  Now I just need my F48 to come in LOL!!   :-)
