F16 to Lynx setup
« on: November 14, 2017, 03:36:52 PM »
Please take a look at my attachments, am I setting this up right?  All my pixel props work great, but can't get my other stuff to work.

Pics are of my F16 config screen for DMX and E1.31 universes as well as xlights layout tab showing starting my AC lights on universe 38 channels.  i.e. #38:1, #38:2, etc.

Thanks.

Just for "fun" try switching to Absolute mode and see if the 18871 number calculated by xlights matches what the F16v3 is calculating.

You can switch back and forth between modes.

I am assuming your CAT5 cable is a normal patch cable plugged into Port #2 and the jumpers are set for DMX (unless you are using an LOR controller, then LOR)

Swapped to absolute and it showed 18871 for universe 38

Correct, Ive got a normal CAT5 from DMX2 to Lynx DMX I put. Jumpers on F16 are on DMX.

and it looks like your Lynx Express "Data" light is flickering, so it sees DMX on the input.

What are you sending or playing that should be lighting lights in Universe 38?

There is a nice Test mode in xLights that could send data to 18871 and above.

Can I assume that your Lynx Express is reading "001" on the LED display ??

Lynx display is 001. The data link light is solid though. Havent seen it flicker.
Ill see if I can try the xlights test mode.
Ive just been making a sequence and setting the elements on/off to see if theyre working. Havent gotten any response from the Lynx yet.

I cant get the xlights test feature to work for anything. I can run a sequence and get my pixel stuff responding, but those dont work direct via xlights test either. I have my universes on multicast is that an issue?

Does the F16 test feature light up the DMX channels?

Yes, the test mode direct from the F16 runs them perfectly. I did notice that the data link led on the express was still solid green during the test run though. I thought it should blink.

Try a different cable? (Not likely if F16 test works)

Weirdness continues. Tried another cable, test mode from F16 didnt work. Also, now that the original cable is plugged back in it stopped working too.
Only thing I changed in F16 confit was turning all 4 serial outputs to DMX on universe 38 start channel 1.

Went in to change back my F16 serial outputs and saw this

No port settings are visible anymore.

Rebooted everything, able to restore the port settings now. F16 test mode doesnt work for the Lynx if the universe is set to 38, but if I set it to 1 then it works with the Lynx.

I think it is time to call or email Dave Pitts. Info is on the Store webpages.

Are you driving this from xLights or FPP or something else?  I have my LEs working with the F16v3 driven by an FPP.
