I like the "u", but I'm an engineer so I tend to like things in the geeky ballpark......
I agree with others; the "u" would probably cause confusion.

Thanks for all the replies so far.  Been considering the suggestions as well as having the old thinking cap on.  In trying to find one word to sum everything up, I ran across 'elfin' :

elfin   -  /ˈelfən/
adjective
adjective: elfin

    1.    (with reference to a person) small and delicate, typically with an attractively mischievous or strange charm

If we strike out the 'reference to a person' - then that seems about right?

Also seems our non-engineer types aren't too thrilled with the ! so maybe just MSC - for Micro String Controller.   Hopefully we'll never need to have a Mega String Controller!

Pixel Elf  ?

Implies magical and small.

"Bigger" versions could become:

Pixel Hobbit

Pixel Gnome   (for your garden)

Pixel Troll

Well, I don't think you'd ever have 'Elfin Falcon' any more than you'd have 'Ford Chevy' - Elfin and Falcon would be two separate brand names... like Lynx and Falcon, etc.  It would be more like elfin micro string controller or elfin MSC.  Or you can just say it like I do when things aren't working right ... effin controller.  :-X
