PiNard-8
« on: August 28, 2018, 08:04:46 PM »
I suppose this could be either here or in the Renard forum, but the DIGWDF engineers just released the PiNard-8.
It's an amalgam of a Pi Zero (or Zero-W), an 8-channel Renard or Renard-DMX controller, a 120vac to 5vdc 2A power buck, and the wonderful Falcon Player. With its onboard H11AA1 chip providing the zero-cross signal, the 8 outputs from the controller provide full dimming capability via either AC or DC external SSRs.  The completed controller is 4.24"L x 3"W x 1"H. The Renard's PIC16F1825 chip can easily run at speeds up to 460K baud, providing lots of daisy-chaining opportunity for more then 2300 discrete Renard channels.

With a slightly different configuration, the PiNard-8 PCB can also be used with the Pi 2B, B+ or 3 as well.
