Where to find 18ga lights stateside and can you mix them?
« on: October 29, 2018, 09:49:47 AM »
Does anyone know of a place I can order 12V RGB light strings stateside with 18GA (AWG?) wires that doesn't take 3 weeks to arrive? I underestimated on my last order from Ray. From experience, most of lights from Amazon are 22Ga and smaller. 5V lights are workable, as I have a mix of 12's and 5's.

I have found these 18Ga ones so far:

Also, does anyone know if I can mix the lights, eg connect a strand of 12V 18Ga wire lights onto the end of a Ray Wu 12V 18Ga strand assuming everything is WS2811? I know not to mix the thin wire lights from Amazon (I think they are from Rextin) with the Ray Wu 18Ga lights.

Thanks,
Steve

How long a string of lights are you planning? (usually that is "how many pixels?" but actual length of wire is important, too.)

22ga will not be a problem if you use short strings (<120) or do power injection frequently.

These are good quality.  Yes you can mix strings but The colors may not match well. I would also verify the rgb order first.
