June 28 Mini in Denver metro
« on: June 18, 2014, 01:28:27 PM »
Just a heads up that I had to change the location of our meeting. The rooms at HQ are scheduled for maintenance that weekend, so everyone got booted. Our new location is just on the south side of Park Meadows mall at Station 34. They have a conference room that should work. It does not have a projector though. If you need one, please bring one or post here so that someone else can.

The address is:
South Metro Fire Rescue Station 34
8871 Maximus Drive
Lone Tree, CO 80124

directions from googlemaps: https://www.google.com/maps/dir//Lone+Tree,+CO/@39.5552469,-104.9195158,13z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m8!4m7!1m0!1m5!1m1!1s0x876c85aeb7500f27:0x17f653e4052c64fd!2m2!1d-104.885183!2d39.555252

Plenty of places across the street for breakfast and lunch.

Just a heads up , that i will miss most of this mini.

I was contacted a few weeks ago with a request to perform a patriotic music show on June 29th. The most prolific American composer today is Mark Hayes (> 2000 compositions). He wrote a patriotic suite called "American Spirit".
It was performed at the Lincoln Center in New york last year.

This is a description
"Written for a combined chorus performance at Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center with the composer conducting, this major work in three movements is both poignant and inspiring. Drawing inspiration from the words of Henry David Thoreau and quoting Simple Gifts, Zion's Walls, and Materna, this is a classic Mark Hayes composition combining stylistic, contemporary writing with a classical foundation. With piano accompaniment, this will be powerful, but with either the full orchestration or the chamber orchestration (both downloadable), it will be unforgettable. The thoughtful and poetic libretto is by master lyricist, Pamela Stewart."

I will be playing the flute/piccolo part. We have a 4 hour practice June 28th from 9am-1pm. I then have a performance with the Highlands Ranch Community Band that evening at 6pm.

I may come over from 2-4pm that afternoon to be sure no empty slots are left in the day, lol

Any of you local folks who want to hear a wonderful Patriotic performance, Sunday June 29th 3pm at St Andrews Methodist Church in Highlands Ranch. Admission is free.

If have another forum that you frequently visit,  please share.  I will spend some time this afternoon doing the same as well as emailing the CO group.

Illusions,
Brian said the doors are open 7am-5pm in one of his postings.  People usually trickle in during the first two hours.  Probably not officially starting until 9am.

Ditto! I'll be there as close to 7 as I can. I will have coffee ready.
