F8-PB+ v1.10 and 24V
« on: November 08, 2018, 06:42:29 PM »
Can someone let me know what I need to do to run 24V through the F8-PB+?  I remember Dan saying this was possible.

You want 24V on the V line on all the pixel connectors?

The only think you would need to do is remove the R17 resistor.  You lose the Fuse indicator leds as those are only designed for up to 12V.   You may be able to replace R17 with something large, but I have no idea what value resistor to try.  Likely upwords of 5K ohm.

That should be it.  The buck converter is rated for 7-24V.  If you wanted to go higher, you'd have to replace that.  There is a direct replacement that is rated to 36V.

The other option you COULD do is pull the power jumpers entirely and power the PB via a USB cable.

Caveat: I haven't actually tried it.

Yep. 24V on the V line on all the pixel outputs. Cool, Ill remove the R17 resistor and give it a try.
