F16v2 blue board communication issue
« on: November 12, 2018, 12:48:58 PM »
Have been setting up lights and controllers. Got my house controller out hooked up to lights and network cable and tested with my FPP.
All was fine. Could reach controller thru my router on my home network. FPP wireless and controller network hard wired.

Moved on to Mega Tree. Got second controller hooked up to lights and network cable and tested with FPP. Nothing.
Looked at OLED. All looked fine. Same settings as last year did not change anything. Reconnected cat 5 cable and tried again. Nothing.
Went in house and got spare board out and hooked to laptop via ethernet cable and had no issue. Settings the same as eth0 network on FPP.
Took laptop out to mega tree and plugged in to controller. Nothing

Swapped out mega controller with spare. Plugged in, booted up and could connect to controller thru router. Tested lights. All working.

Took mega controller in to house test bench. Hooked up to laptop via ethernet cable and nothing.

It boots, I can change IP address via OLED but can not get it to communicate.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, Ed

Have you done the factory reset.  It is in the manual.  Got to hold down one of the buttons while powering up.

My F16v2blue board has a "burned out" OLED display. I left it on for about 6 months (not intentionally). It doesn't auto dim like the F16v3.
While I purchased a replacement OLED, I never quite got around to it.
I just left it set for DHCP so it always gets an address, then I use an IP scanner to find an address.

Factory Reset will put it back to DHCP for you.

I had the same problem.  There's a firmware update that has the screen timeout.

Got the board back today from David. He reseated the small Ethernet board and it took care of the problem.

Communicating fine now.

A BIG thanks to David!!!
