I have some 32x32 P5 panels that I configure as though they are two 32x16 panels.  Works just fine  My panels are at least 5 years old and I am using a Pi and
one of the original Pi hats that were available back then..

Did you use a .rcvp file supplied by your vendor?  I seem to recall that I exactly the same problem in LEDVision when using the vendor-supplied file.  The tell-tale is cabinet setting.  You'll need to mess around with the settings until you hit the right combination.

Try changing the module to 32x32 and 1/16 scan in LEDVision.  The test pattern looks like you're getting horizontal overlap, which suggests that the width setting on the panel size is incorrect.  You may have to manually adjust some other settings.  The test pattern should like like the picture I attached—no overlap at all.

Just food for thought.  The overlap may be due to the matrix beinq quite small.  As Kensington Graves photo shows, there should be "LED1" in each corner and the middle.  Because the matrix is so small, the "LED1" in the upper left corner would overlap with the "LED1" in the upper right corner - as seen.  The "LED1" in the middle and the color circles appear to be correct.  The size of the text in comparison to the color circles appears to match the way it is on Kenington's photo.
Note, I make no claim to being a LEDVision expert.  I only used colorLight cards one year and only were able to configure them with assistance on the Zoom room.
Using LOR (mostly SuperStar) for all sequencing - using FPP only to drive P5 and P10 panels.

No, it's a configuration issue. I had the same overlap when I was assembling the big matrix for the first time.  I just don't remember what I did to fix it.  It may be the cabinet size setting.  The card may think it is running a matrix equal to the size parameters set there and keeps outputting data to fill the cabinet.  I'll pull up LEDVision when I get to the office and see if my parameters are still set.  Probably what I should have done in the first place.

Aha!  I knew it.  My modules are 16x16 1/16 scan.  The 32x16 setting is possibly what is causing the overlap.  I've posted pictures of my settings.  See if they work for you.  Changing the DCLK setting and refresh rate will change the allowable cabinet sizes.  17.9MHz and 1920 refresh were the lower limit for my matrix, but it got me to cabinet size I needed.
