OLED Problem???

Hey All,

I just fired up one of my F16v3 controllers to add some new props.  The OLED is so dim that the only way I can see it is to literally turn off every light in the vicinity, cover the fuses to block their light, cover the cat 5 leds and even then I could barely read the display.

I went to the manual and tried the steps there to wake up the display to include poking every button and doing a factory reset.

Anyone have any suggestions?

JonD

I have had several OLEDs go dark on the F4v3.  You can typically still manage it via the web management GUI, but can't read anything on the display.  I would try replacing the display.  You just need to squeeze in the plastic stand-offs and it pops right off.  If you have more than one controller, you could swap the displays to see if that resolves it.  It has happened to me so many times, I keep a couple of spares on hand.

Thanks JonD....

I figured that I'd need to replace it.  I'll follow your advice and order several to keep on hand.  Sounds like the OLED is a rather high fail component.

JonD

I had a high failure rate with the F4v3 at least, but have not replaced one in the F16v3s yet.  I mainly keep a couple of them on hand, because Pitts is out of stock on them fairly regular.

Yeah...I picked up some and the problem was, indeed, a bad OLED....easy fix
