Quote from: virgil1 on August 16, 2022, 03:41:15 PMI am having the same problem. Tried 6.  Tried 6.02.  Tried with my backup config, tried without it.  It doesn't see the USB Soundblaster.  Went back to my old SD card with v4.6.1, works fine.  Raspberry Pi 3B+.

Trying 5.5 now.  Will post updates.  Forgot to mention I have a piCap, and a Soundblaster 3 USB.

5.5 worked great!  I think I'll stick with that(better than v4.6.1), but please let me know if I can help with any additional info to debug.  I tried 5.5 with 'vanilla' (not putting my backup config on it) and with my config.  Both worked fine.

I doubt it is the software. Have you updated to the most recent version of FPP? Do you have the UI Password enabled (this is usually not recommended and known to cause issues)
Here is one on a Pi 3B

And on a 3B+

Yes, UI Password enabled.  How would that stop the USB Sound Card from working?  I can try installing and disabling all passwords.  I did update to the latest FPP and OS.

Is there a reason for that?

There was a bug that would not allow a few settings options to be displayed because of the UI password.

That should fix your problem.

You probably didn't have the latest update, because it was fixed in one of the more recent versions.

Reinstalled, didn't enforce UI password(set as disabled), works fine now.  Back on 6.  Thanks for the help!

For anyone else struggling with the Soundblaster not showing up - or really anything showing up in the sound settings:

Symptoms: I was running version 6.0 adn added a SB Play 3 USB.  I rebooted and nothing showed up in the audio section, and even the previous default options were gone.  Upgraded to 6.02 (cant rember what version of 6 I was on before) but it didnt help any.  In the troubleshooter it showed I had a soundblaster Play 3 connected, but the Audio section showed nothing - not even the derfault Pi4 autio options that is upposed to be default.  I had this problem before when I had the GUI password option enabled (after upgrade to version 6) and once I disabled it then i saw the Pi4 Audio device there.

To get it to work I:
Re-enabled the GUI password option, and then reboot, then disable it again, reboot, and then it showed in the FPP GUI properly.

So it is something with the GUI password breaking the detection of the audio device.

Can you try with the latest version of 6.0?  These was a bunch of problems related to UI password breaking things fixed about a month ago.

I have two Pi4s and one Pi3b+ and no issues at all with the Sound Blaster showing up.  I have had the FPP keep rebooting if I do not select the sound blaster as the default device, but once the sound blaster has been selected every thing seems to work fine, other than I get constant errors in the "/var/log/syslog" file.

The GUI password issue has been fixed. Typically using a GUI password does not provide any security and can cause other issues. It is not typically used for normal functionality.

I just did some backups after I finally got everything talking to each other correctly finally.  I am currently running FPP v6.0.2-8 and noticed the backup file has a v to it.  v5_todaysdate_time.json

Assuming nothing to worry about?

How to use ssh now? Can't connect username/password error fpp/falcon.

bloojoop

Have you completed the initial setup from the web browser interface ?  You have to either choose default for the ssh id/password, or assign you own.  Once this is completed, ssh would work as it always has.

Got FPP with 6.1 working fine, but I notice that it shows two (2) eth0 interfaces on the status page:

Network status looks okay:

Any ideas?

Looks like there's no network information in the FPP host here:

fpp@FPPMain/etc/network$ ls
if-down.d
if-post-down.d
if-pre-up.d
if-up.d
interfaces
interfaces.d
fpp@FPPMain:/etc/network$ cat interfaces
# interfaces(5) file used by ifup and ifdown
# Include files from /etc/network/interfaces.d:
source /etc/network/interfaces.d/*
fpp@FPPMain:/etc/network$ cd interfaces.d
fpp@FPPMain:/etc/network/interfaces.d$ ls
fpp@FPPMain:/etc/network/interfaces.d$ ls -a
.  ..

However, here's what I see in /media/config:

fpp@FPPMain:~/media/config$ cat interface.eth0
INTERFACE="eth0"
PROTO="static"
ADDRESS="192.168.29.50"
NETMASK="255.255.255.0"
GATEWAY="192.168.29.1"
DHCPSERVER=0
DHCPOFFSET=100
DHCPPOOLSIZE=50
ROUTEMETRIC=0
IPFORWARDING=0

Which looks kinda normal.  But that still doesn't explain the two "eth0" entries in the FPP web page.
