F4V3 controller + Smart Receiver Board

I've been looking through old posts and can't seem to find an answer to my question.

I have an F4V3 controller running four strings of pixels (each has 50 pixels so 150 LEDs). I want some more pixel strings father from the controller so I know I need a 4-string differential smart receiver, to give me 4 more pixel outputs.

The question being: Do I need an F4V2 differential expansion board to connect the smart receiver board to the F4V3 controller? I know I COULD use it if I want to add two smart receivers. But can the smart receiver just be plugged into the F4V3 controller on the second ethernet connection?

According to the manual...
A single port on a Differential Receiver can be driven if connected to directly to the DMX port.

Looking over the manual more I think I found my answer:

Section 3.2.3.1.2.2:
"Do not connect the Differential Expansion Receiver to an Ethernet connector, such as the ETH0 or ETH1 ports on the F4v3, as this may cause damage to the controllers."

So seems I do need an expansion board if I want to use all four ports in the receiver. Or I could use one port using the DMX port like srshepherdjr stated above.
