Linear lighting

Hi, I see some really cool 2D plane sequences in Vixen 3 and xLights, but very little on a linear light setup. 

All I have is pixels straight across my soffit and I'd like to get in to doing some neat stacking, fading lines and things of that sort.

Anyone know of a tool/software for that?
