I believe the F16V2/F16V3 Differential Expansion Board is powered by the ribbon cable but I became a little confused when I saw the jumper next to the EXT PWR connection was in the EXT PWR position.  I would expect most people are only using one Differential Expansion Board connected to their F16V3.  If that is the case, why is the default (i.e., factory shipped) position of the jumper in the EXP PWR position if people have to immediately switch it upon delivery?  Bottom line, do I need to change the jumper position to use the expansion board with my F16V3?

It is possible to have two expansion boards, but only 1 can be powered from the interface cable.  The other must be powered externally.

Yes switch the jumper if only using one expansion board.  I think you would be surprised how many people use 2 boards. But either way David had to make a choice since he couldn't predict how everyone would use the board.

Understand.  Switch the jumper.  Thank you.  Secondary lesson learned.  When in doubt, believe the verbiage on the boards.

would this then be only like using a standard plug in power supply similar to what you would use with a raspberry pi?

I notice the board is not set up to take a plug in so would you need to cut off the plug end of one of those and wire that way and since the blades on those are the same size how can you be sure to not fry a board if hot ans grd are reversed or is that an issue with these?
