How many pixels can run from differential receiver

How many pixels can be run from each port on a differential receiver board? Does each string port on the differential receiver boards only have 1 universe available to them? For whatever reason, I was thinking this was the case but I hope I am wrong.

Nevermind. I found the answer and it looks like the ports can share the total numer of pixels with other ports on the controller.

The answer is:  "It depends".

It depends on which main controller your receiver is connected to (Falcon or Kulp)
It depends on what frame rate you are running (20fps or 40fps)
It depends on whether you are running the receiver in "normal" (dumb) mode or "Smart" mode
If depends on what you have your "slider" set to (if using a Falcon F16V3 or F48 controller)

It is not limited to a single universe.  The max per port is 1024, but that number is reduced depending on various combinations of the dependencies listed above.

Hopefully this is more of a known thing now. So if I am using a K8-B, using 20fps, the receivers are in smart mode. Is the limitation, what ever it is per port, in this case port on the K8-B, or per receiver, or per port on each receiver?

Would love to get an idea so I know how many receivers to purchase. I have 2 now and want to get more.

Each Receiver "chain" is 4 ports. If you have one Receiver in Normal mode then you have Ports 9-12. Once you change to Smart Receivers , then the ports are shared and reflected in the Port settings. The first receiver in the chain will be ports 9A, 10A, 11A, and 12A. The next receiver will be ports 9B, 10B, 11B, and 12B. Each numerical port has the port limitation so the number of pixels on port 9 is the number of pixels on Port 9A, 9B, and 9C (that is if you have 3 receivers in the chain)

So if I am following, the ports on the K8-B  is 1400 at 50 ms. 9a, 9b and 9c can have a total of 1,400 pixels on them. If I only had to 2 receivers, 9A and 9B, those 2 together could have 1,400 pixels. So following that logic, since there is a total of 9 additional ports on the controller, each one of those ports should be capable of 1,400 pixels.

The Manual explains this in more detail F8-B-Manual.pdf but you lose some pixels when you go to Smart Receivers (1340 per port)

How do you get 9? There are 3 RJ45 jacks, each jack is 4 ports and they are labeled accordingly, 9-12, 13-16, and 17-20. So there are an additional 12 ports

Your right, not sure where I came up with 9, cant do simple math. Thanks for the reply.
