I have 6 p10 panels in 2 separate enclosure boxes, 3 in each.  These are indoors in my front window and pull double duty.  Both, part of the show and Tune to sign.  The boxes are black, the panels are black and sitting inside in the front window they get extremely HOT.  I mean 200+ degrees F hot.  The capacitors on the panels are too hot to even touch.  I realize this is not good for the panels, the controller or the power supply that are all mounted inside the box.

I've cut a 4" hole and added 120mm fans to each.  But, since these are in my living room, where we watch TV, the fans are annoying if left on all the time.  Heat isn't a problem at night when the show is actually running and when we use the living room, just during the day while idle sitting in the sun.  Yes, I could just take them out of the window every morning and put them back in every night, but shouldn't have to or if I'm not home when the show starts the panels won't be there.

So a temperature controlled fan circuit is what I'm going to do.  I'm either going to just use a "Snap Thermometer" and just wire it to the +V or design a thermal control circuit to the fan.  I can not seem to find any temperature specs on the P10 panels.  Although, I did see one spec sheet of just Red panels state 55 degrees C.  That's only ~ 130F.

What is the maximum safe temperature of RGB panels?
What are others doing to control heat to their devices?
Do you even worry about it?
Has anyone even thought about it?
