I have been using EDM for my audio the past few seasons and decided to jump on the VAST train with the FMT212.  I had assumed it would work well since Dan Kulp designed the controllers I use, develops FPP, develops the VAST Plugin, and uses a VAST.  Little did I know that Dan uses the VAST on a standalone BBB to act as the Master for his show!

Turns out that FPP wouldnt route audio through the USB to the VAST with the K16 since the K16 has the onboard DAC.  I checked in with Dan and he gave me a quick fix that seems to work so far.  We have no idea if this will change at random reboots, etc.   However, my testing has proven to be stable so far.

To get the BBB to send audio to the VAST via USB when using a K16 or K32 Cape:

Backup the /root/.asoundrc file.

Replace the /root/.asoundrc file contents with:

pcm.!default {
 type hw
 card 1
}

ctl.!default {
 type hw
 card 1
}

Then restart fppd.

Perhaps a future version of FPP will have this as a setting, but for now if you are trying to get audio to the VAST via USB, this should do the trick.

Thanks again @dkulp for the quick response!
