I bought a couple of Dan's left over original F8-B+ through hole pcb's during a group buy in February 2019. I have assembled one and it works perfectly as far as I've tested it (100 pixels on the 8 native ports and 12 ports using 3 differential receivers). What I am wondering is if it is possible to add an OLED display using pins 1 or 2 for Ground, 3 or 4 for 3.3 volts, 19 for SCL and 20 for SDA? Will this work or will it interfere with some of the ports? I did an experiment with no pixels connected and the OLED works, I have not tried to repeat all the pixel port tests with the OLED connected. Connection was using clips and test leads which would not withstand much movement.

That should work...  19 and 20 aren't used for any strings or anything so you should be all set for using that for an OLED.

Not fancy but I do have this board to add an oled from the expansion header.  PM me if your interested.  The screen will only work after boot up until it times out and no buttons to make it turn back on.

I got some of those from you last year and my OLED's don't time out.  Are you still running and old version of FPP? Dan fixed it last year (I don't remember the version) so if there are no buttons the screen doesn't time out and they don't time out on mine.

I'm up to 4.2.  Well that's good to know.  I guess I never noticed since I only look at them a few times and that's usually soon after power up.  Have your got the "burned in" screen from this?

I still have a ton of these boards just not the headers.  It was only a few buck more to increase my order so I said what the heck.  I am fairly certain I have more boards than F8 boards that were produced.

Not yet but I have extras and they're cheap.  I think I got a 5-pak for $20.   I would want the timeout if these were year-round controllers.  But for roughly 1-2 months out of the year I don't think I'll see any burn-in for several years.
