So I got my new Kulp32; my second.   For some strange reason it kept rebooting nonstop immediately after it displayed my IP address on the OLED for about 2 seconds.   Turns out, I was feeding it 5V but forgot to set the jumper to 5V.   Did I harm my K32?   Would I be correct that if I had messed up in the opposite direction, it could have been a lot worse?

It should be ok.  The device runs on 5V and when you have the jumper set to 12 V when supplying it with 5V actually drops the input voltage to around 4.5V which is not enough to fully power up the BBB.  As you thought, sending 12V into a 5V device causes real damage which is why the jumper is set to 12V when you get it.  Set the jumper to 5V and power it back up.
