I have decided to re-flash my micro sd card that goes in my BBB

instructions when starting up the BBB says to hold down a button ( i know which button they are talking about just not what it is called) if this is the first time the BBB has been booted up

I understand if this was the first time booting the BBB, however when I re-flash the sd card and boot up the BBB do I hold down above mentioned button, or is that step not necessary?

Honestly, the only two times you should need to press the button are:

1) The first time booting FPP on a OLD BBB.   Any BBB manufactured in the last 3 years already has a boot loader that will look on the SD card first.   If you buy a new BBB now, you don't need to press it at all.

2) If the eMMC gets completely corrupt somehow and the onboard boot loader is screwed up.

If you had FPP booting from the SD card already, you don't need to hit the S2 button again.
